I mean, I mean, have you ever just sat down & read the back cover, of Alice's Restaurant? Without actually listening to it? Or I suppose if you really wanted to, you could listen to it WHILE you read the back cover, but folks might think that was a little weird. :scratch2: No folks, to show your full appreciation & reverence for the situation, you had ought to read the back cover in complete silence. Unless the TV's on in the background, that's probably alright. :thmbsp:

I found a copy of the "Alice's Restaurant Massacree" on the bottom of a pile of garbage. It was not signed, so I could not determine the rightful owner/dumper of said LP. I did take 27 ~ 8×10 color glossy pictures and put circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining where the LP was in relation to the other garbage. We did this just in case we ever determined who dumped the LP, figuring the pictures could be used as evidence against them in a court of law, a court of law where justice is blind!

Brilliant. I came across the movie before the album. Now have one copy of the movie soundtrack and two copies of the album.

It's joy is the sincerety and honesty in the story plus the savy irony of the argument. Very well 'played'. It's a fun album!

They don't let us read on the "Group W" bench!

A Thanksgiving tradition in these parts!

HI
Every thanksgiving we play the Alices Restaurant Thanksgiving Day Massacree song. I have quite a few recordings of it and one of them runs for almost half an hour. sometimes we play the movie too. Thing is that we are from that time and it just sounds right. One nice thing is that, about five years ago, Arlo Guthrie took his extended family on tour and called it the Legacy Tour. The point was that if there ever was a time to call for a peaceful resistance this was it. We say them in Islamorada which was only about half an hour north of us and we got to sing along with the four part harmony on the chorus just like the old days. There were even a few new verses which were slightly UN-complementary Now I'm not nostalgic or anything but that was just such a great experiences I mean a whole auditorium, a whole auditorium of people singing the Alice's Restaurant Massacree in twelve part harmony and all of them dancing in the aisles and having fun. I believe that I will check U-tube now and see if anybody recorded it. Have a grateful Thanksgiving one and all!

I don't want a pickle, and I don't want to hear that song. My wife says that means I'm the Scrooge of Thanksgiving.

Great fun, listen, that album. Always liked Arlo, just listened to Hobo's Lullaby a couple of nights ago.

Well, it's 9:10 AM, on Thanksgiving Day, 2012 A.D. (that's short for Anno Domini, not Alzheimer's Disease), and since it'll be awhile before lunchtime, I thought I'd spin up my first pressing vinyl album, with the genuine tri-color Reprise label, to see if it still works. It does. :D

WMMR in Philly does it too, 10, 12, and 2 I think. The noon version is the later revisited song, and at 2 Pierre plays it on vinyl.
still hate seeing pierre and debella split up,when they split was like my parents gettin devorecd -lol
