Arm Pipe Replacement for Pioneer PL-530

Hi all,
I recently picked up a Pioneer PL-A500 (the Japanese version of the PL-530). As you can see in the picture, the arm pipe is corroded and needs to be replace (can't polish chrome that isn't there). My question is, is it possible to replace just the arm pipe, or would I need to replace the whole tonearm. And as a follow up, if I can replace the arm pipe, can I use other Pioneer S curve tonearms of the same era, or would it have to be specifically from a PL-530/PL-A500.

Any help much appreciated!!

Your best bet is to find a used arm in good shape from the same model.

If you search for a complete tonearm assembly be aware of a common problem, cracked plastic base.

The photo shows that not only the tonearm tube is covered with corrosion . Corrosion also affected the weights of the tonearm . And the turntable disk itself is also in corrosion . I think that there are also traces of corrosion inside the turntable . There is a lot of work to be done with this Pioneer .

Yeah, absolutely, but stainless steel and aluminum can be polished (with a lot of said work). The arm pipe, however, can't be since the chrome has eroded away. Thus my question. I think JamVal is right and that the only reasonable option is a full tonearm replacement.

Okay, I'm convinced and am going to replace the whole tonearm. I was looking at the service manual and notice that the arm pipe had its own part number so I thought I'd look into replacing just it. Thanks all for the advice.

That's gonna be a tough find. May have to try to find a parts-only PL530 just to get the tonearm. Even those go for $200-300.

I the past couple of years, I have only seen one PL530 tonearm by itself go for sale.
