Art pre 2 vs art pre limited edition?

20230502_183121_01.jpg 20230502_183455.jpg 20230429_214836.jpg I've been digging my groovy albums again after way to long in storage.

I picked up an art dj pre2 phono amp a while ago. It has settled into a decent sounding piece.
Started digging around and have found myself with three turntables and a few recievers to play around with in the theater room.

Needed, well wanted another pre amp for more plug and play. Found a dj pre le limited edition at my local guitar center.

They could'nt give me any insite on the difference between the two. The in the box spec sheets apeer the same. Nor does the art pro website even list this model. Go figure......

The pre le model has around 6-7 hrs on it and basicly it's a match for the dj2 in sound.
Just wondering whats inside? Probably the same with a " limited edition" decal to reel me in.

Thanks, that is a good read. These are nice inexpencive amps. Feeding them clean dc power vs the wall wort, does bring them up another level.

Well, you could always contact Art/Yorkville Sound and ask, I'd guess - or open both exemplars and compare (pics would be nice, in case you'd do...). But maybe it's also something pretty obvious: Did you compare the power supplies? Because as far as I'm aware, the DJPreII used to come with a conventional AC/AC wall wart with an output voltage of 9 V(AC) - and the first generation (*) of their newer Precision Phono Pre also came with such a conventional 9 V(AC) wall wart, while the current version now comes with a switched-mode wall wart with 12 V(DC) (**). So maybe they've changed the power supply for the DJPre, too, and decided to indicate that with a new suffix.

*) Or maybe even the first and second generation, 'cause some of the initial specs (which can still be found on bhphotovideo(.com)) differed from the later ones - namely foremost the maximum input and output levels, which both went up (from 150 mV/15 mV to 440 mV/44 mV (MM/MC) as well as from 2.5 V/+10 dBu to 6 V/+18 dBu)). And iirc that spec change already happened before the power supply change.

**) Which, btw, also makes me wonder, whether the results of Grenadelio's comparison (which Sgt Shultz has linked to above) as well as of the review over on Audiosciencereview (see there: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/art-precision-phono-pre-review.34927/) would still apply...

I have been following this same path, albeit in a more circuitous route. I dug out from my audio box what I thought was two phono preamps. And both power supplies were missing. I ordered the one for the ART, and now find I was not careful in realizing what I had. It was the ART DI/O tube DAC. Ugh.
So, like tkat1000 I ordered the right one after reading that review at ASR. I also had another phono preamp, the TC-754. Missing the power supply, I checked what it needed, ordered, only to find out the pin plug was too large. I contacted the importer, who chastised me for not ordering the correct replacement from him. He had two, one with a British plug with adapter, that had 12 VDC and 1.5mA and the other had 500mA. I don't think the power difference in a small walwart is going to make much difference in sound.
My communication with the octogenarian retired engineer, made me feel like Stimpy. :(

Fired a request to art pro audio. In relation to no listing on there site for the "LE" model and pertinent internals.

Really happy with both..... at the moment. Just couirous if there is actually a difference.

the wall worts are both 9vac. I'm feeding them 12vdc. Switching between two recievers and three turntables, i can't tell a difference they both sound good.

Just finished one and put on the second disc of the album yes songs and cranked it up abit more
