Have Pioneer SX1250, 2DX-9's, 2CS99A's. Have a nicer Blu-ray Magnavox, have also tried Pioneer PD-M406 CDplayers. Problem is I can't get to 12 o'clock before CD players start to cut out from the massive onslaught in the room. Even got em stacked on 3 inches of styrofoam. What can I do, what unit can I buy? I'm ready for 1o'clock and the windows bowin' to Led Zep and AC/DC. HELP me out in these difficult times. What do I do???

Turn the volume control down..Salvage your ear drums.

Otherwise, try placing said players on a shelf attached to the wall instead of resting on something sitting on the floor or a shelf suspended from the ceiling by ropes or chains. Or whips and chains if that's more to your liking. :)

Get caught up in the 21st century and just use your computer or MP3 player and crank it to your hearts content. :)

I still like to play my turntable but I can't enjoy it enough like I used to when it was suspended from the ceiling in the house I grew up in.

I third the streaming. The Bluesound Node 2i has a built in DAC and analog out and cost less than a "good" CD player.

First I've seen feedback in a digital player. I understand it but dang I'm not wanting that assault on my hearing if it causes CDPs to cut out it will probably really hurt my hearing.

Get a set of 20 foot RCA cables and put the player in a different room. Or stream.

That's odd, "it" says you have four posts and they are all in this thread.
"It" also says you joined in 2014.
Maybe "it" forgot you asked previously.
Put the CD player outside and run a 100 foot interconnect from the CD player to the 1250

I'm also a fan of ripping to hd for playback.

That said, cd player lasers simply wear out over time. I cant remember all of the players, be it cd, dvd, blue ray so on that simply bite it eventually. Some with little use to top it off.

That's the biggest reason I own several old magnavox/Philips players with the swing arm laser. It's just astonishing how these old 80s era players keep ticing along like a swiss watch. Goes to show how allot of more modern laser transports are clearly watered down.

I'm sure theres some great modern transports out there. But I've no idea how long they will last or what it would cost.

But yeah, as others noted. Beyond the task of setting up a decent computer playback system and ripping your gems. It sure makes listening much easier and reliable imo.

Didn't someone here have component shelves hanging from the ceiling with chains?

Protect your ears. One blast session can ruin future listening forever.

This is counter productive to my attempted end result. I want more.
What you're observing is simply a matter of gain matching. Your 70s receiver was designed before high output CD players were produced. The line input of the receiver requires only 150 mV for full output while most CD players deliver 2-4V.

Hence the position of the volume control really doesn't mean much. The issue is you are clipping the amplifier. Solution? More power!

I'm trying to imagine how loud it must be to cause a CD player to skip. I've banged around and moved the cheap player I used to use in the shop and it never skipped. Started many a cammed V8 with open exhaust and still no skip.
That's got to be some system.
