Asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli....(real vegetables)

Enough of brussels sprouts. We all know they suck.

How about asparagus with hollandaise sauce, steamed broccoli with olive oil and minced garlic, and cauliflower with butter, salt and pepper.

As wonderful as these vegetables are, I can't get my six year old to try them because he looks at Mom who gives him a "yucky" face....

All I can say is they don't know what they're missing.

Oh I forgot beets. They're good too. In fact, they can't be beat.

Brussels sprouts rawk! I love them little cabbage balls. I grew some last year in my garden.

I love fresh asparagus. Boiled in water for just a few minutes then sauteed in butter for another few minutes. Salt and pepper to taste. Canned asparagus is awful and I'm not to keen on frozen either.

I love fresh spinach that's sauteed in bacon fat just until it wilts then sprinkled with the cooked bacon.

I like broccoli plain. Nothing on top. Good raw in salads too!

Cauliflower is best with a cheese sauce on top. Sprinkled with a few bacon bits.

Oh, and I love beets. Plain or pickled. I usually can at least a dozen or so pints of pickled beets every year.

I like brussel sprouts with a little butter and cheese. Come to think of it I like most veggies. Anyone try broccoliflower? It's great with a nice cheese sauce. The kids even like it.

Only problem w/asparagus is it makes yr pee smell funny...I like it w/Hellman's Mayo spread on top. Broccoliflower is EXCELLENT w/butter, cheese & bacon bits-REAL ones, of course-spread LIBERALLY on it.-Sandy G.

I'll add my vote to asparagus cooked fresh! I just discovered this last week! I cut off the bottoms, slice 'em up diagonally, put them in salted water, boil gently for like 15 minutes til they're tender but still a bit crunchy, then drain and butter them. Absolutely delicious! I agree with DryBasement, canned asparagus is simply awful. :puke:
