AT LPW40WN massive feedback when playing on Denon AVR750h

I have a brand new turntable (AT LPW40WN) and a brand new receiver (Denon AVR750h) and when I hook it all up I have everything plugged into phono, ground connected, and have tried with the turntable's built in amp both on and off and cannot get the sound quality to play clearly. It sounds like it needs to be grounded and/or go through an amp but the problem is never solved with any of the configurations of the ground and amp on/off together.

Please help, pretty please. I'm going to take an audio sample and post that on here as well.

You can hear the constant buzz in the background. Also, at this volume from another input source the music would be blaring loud instead of fairly quiet.

I have also tried using another turntable w/ the receiver and was met with the same issue. This second turntable has been successfully played with an older Yamaha receiver (90's RXV590) while also being connected through phono.

Final important detail - if the turntable is plugged in there is still feedback you can hear even w/out it playing a record, which is why I originally thought getting the ground in place would fix the issue.

Does the Audio Technica have an adjustable pre-amp? What are the settings? What is the cartridge you are using?
 
Are the wire connections from the headshell well secured and properly attached to the correct pins of the cartridge?
 
Hi Everyone, thanks for your feedback and questions! I've tried disconnecting/reconnecting the cartridge and also took a solid look at the pin connectors, all of which seemed to be solid. One thing I've noticed is that there's MASSIVE feedback in the speakers when I simply turn the receiver onto Phono input, even w/out the turntable being turned on. Maybe this is normal for some feedback/hum, but it's pretty loud.

Turning the turntables amp on/off makes the sound go from 65% as loud as it should be with an audible hum to being blaringly loud w/ a ton of distortion. Maybe this is an issue with the ground cable and power cable being too close to the speaker wiring? I've played around a bit with this and it doesn't seem to make a difference; however the receiver has a ton of different cabling (power cords, hdmi cords, speaker cords) coming out the back of it and generally being around one another. Will try to take it all apart and put it together by itself separate from the rest of the entertainment center to see if that helps. Even then, I'd be at a loss for how to use my receiver for TV and other audio sources while also being able to use turntable.
 
Something is wrong with your Denon receiver. It should be dead quiet when there's no turntable hooked up to the phono input when you turn the volume up.
 
Maybe I misunderstood , but ......did you try both turntables to a different receiver other than the Denon ? If it is quiet , then I agree with Ilikevinyl . ⬆︎

the TT's preamp should only be used if you're plugging it into a line level input like CD, AUX, etc. With the TT preamp turned on, have you tried the analog CBL/SAT or "Media Player" inputs on the Denon, instead of phono? I agree that it sounds like the Denon's phono stage could be defective... With the TT completely disconnected from the Denon, are you still getting hum with the Denon switched to phono?

If you have a big rat's nest of wiring crossing each other, it could also be a ground loop issue. Could even be a grounding issue with the wall outlet you're plugged into.
