Pioneer and Realistic
It will be 30 years that MTV started. I would say it ended 20 years ago. What happened? How can they call themselves MTV since there is nothing but reality tv on there now. They were the ones that ruined all tv by having this reality stuff going on.

Their original concept was 24 hours a day Video Rock and Roll! I remember the beginning. We were all up waiting patiently for it to come on. I remember thinking this is going to be great. Then there it was...The Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star. Our first thought was ...are you kidding? Is this going to be what we are going have to watch? The Pat Benatar came on and all was saved.

I seen it going down hill when they started the real world. What does that have to do with music? I let Beavis and Butthead slide cause it was funny.

I early interviews I have watched in the last couple of days that record executives were saying that the record companies were in trouble. They said that for example that Micheal Jackson's Thriller video came out and played for 5 days...they were selling 200,000 copies a week to 600,000 copies a week. This really made me think about all this downloading crap. MTV saved the record companies. They are not helping anyone but themselves now.

Bring back my MTV!

Here is the first hour of MTV 8/1/81

I used to love MTV in the 90s. There was a lot of music, but some shows mixed in. I was fine with that. I used to stay up late watching Headbanger's ball and 120 minutes. GREAT shows and I really miss them. No one cares about music videos anymore.
