AT signet stylus suggestion?

adelcom.net is out of that model. I don't know if any of the other models that they have would work. Others will know more. The stylus that you purchased should be quite good.

PRE: Difficult, as none of the current AT needles for the "wider AT120 family" (my nomenclature), to which the TK7LCa also belongs, would still sport a beryllium cantilever - and even the ATN150MLX with boron cantilever was discontinued several years ago.

Anyway, cantilever aside, AT's old LinearContacts actually were renamed Shibatas, so the closest current, original AT needle would be the VMN50SH, but you may also still find its pedecessor ATN150Sa for a bit less. And if you'd like to spend even less, you could check with Goldringstylus(com.au), whether they actualy still offer the ATN142LP under their code D1110LP for AU$ 175.

Whereas what would really be equivalent to the original TKN7LCa would be the ATN155LC and its T4P/P-mount variant ATN152LP, the former of which might be still availabe there https://snvinyl.co.uk/ATN155LC-Stylus-for-Cartridge-AT155LC, although the pic doesn't fit to the description, and the latter of which would still appear to be available from BBE (adelcom.net) for not quite US$ 300.

PRE, I have the same cartridge, and if you are set on getting a beryllium cantilevered stylus you will have to search and wait and pay assuming 1 ever turned up.

However, the new Audio Technica VM series stylus' fit the Signet TK7 cartrdge. You can send Audio Technica an email and they will verify, that is what I did. I went with the VMN40ML and am quite happy with it. They have other options depending on your budget. I think the VMN40ML (as in microline) is way better than the LPtunes/LPGear stylus. I ran that for a while, if I recall it is an AT elliptical stylus and it was OK.

thank you for the reply - I always felt like I wasn’t getting the best sound with the replacement from LP Tunes - I do have one original 7LCa stylus left from the 80s but it has many hours on it - I’ll check out the one you recommend as a direct fit - among the boxes of turntable stuff I received from my uncle I found an empty case from a ATN120e - I wonder if that one fits the TK7 cartridge too?

you could send it off for a retip, Joseph did a great job on my Denon DL301 and others here have also been happy with his work.

Thanks - where would I find info on how to send it in for retail?

I've only used Joseph so can't speak about any others, but if you want to contact Joseph he offers his service through eBay as below

Update - I just bought a VMN30EN and it fits the TK7Lca just fine and does sound a bit better than the LP Tunes replacement- not too bad without breaking the bank!
