Atlanta Area LP's, Stereo Equipment?

Spellbinder

My Spine Is The Bassline
I notice a bunch of AK members are from Atlanta and/or the surrounding area. I'm south of Atlanta (Newnan) and am currently keeping my eye on several thrift shops and pawn shops in Riverdale and Newnan. I was wondering if any of you had recommendations on shops that deal in used LP's and shops that deal in used stereo equipment (turntables and receivers).

Wax N Facts in midtown,Fantasyland in Buckhead, and The Book Nook and Wuxtry near the Clairmont & N. Druid Hills area for vinyl.

For used equipment, I have been to Audio Atlanta (actually in Marietta),
and Audio Alternative in Lilburn. Audio Atlanta is just off the main square in Marietta (NW of Atlanta). Audio Alternative is about 8 miles northeast of I-285 on the north side up I-85. Audio Alternative has a fair amount of vinyl.

Excellent. I'm familiar with Wax N Facts. Great stuff to be had at decent prices. The rest, I'm not familiar with. Thanks! Bookmarking thread for future reference.

Audio atlanta closed down. Sucks because they were really good. Theres also blue moon records not to far from wax n facts.

How about Eat More Records? I think it's located in Lawrenceville.

I should check out the LP stores myself, as they likely have things I may have been looking for but am unlikely to find at a thrift store.

Another possible LP source and sometimes even for equipment is antique/flea markets, though LP's there sometimes have inflated prices.

For thrift stores, there's lots of Goodwills around:

And this local Atlanta-area chain of about four or five stores:

For many non-profit thrift stores that might be hard to find, there's this site:

Never been to Audio Atlanta, but I see their website is still up. They should put a note on there about being closed.

Eat More Records closed a couple of years ago. A really good place for unusual albums (and CDs) is Yo Yo records.

Also, the CD Warehouse in Sandy Springs has a decent collection. Finally, not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but Criminal Records in Little Five Points (down the street from Wax n' Facts) is also excellent.

Audio Atlanta

Does anyone know why Audio Atlanta closed and when they closed ? I was going to get my turntable serviced there. Sorry to hear that. I have a Pro-ject table.

Eat More Records is a place I frequented back in the late 80s/early 90s. At the time, they were located off of the I-85 access road in a flea market building. The owner was a guy named Craig who was really nice and helpful, although extremely opinionated. There was a water main that fed the entire building that went across the top of the store. One winter, there was a hard freeze and power outage, causing that pipe to burst and wipe out his entire inventory.

I do remember seeing his store on Sugarloaf Pkwy. I went to Criminal Records about 6 months ago. Finding that store is a major pita. Finding parking within half a mile is almost impossible on weekends. They had a lot of vinyl, but I did not care for their selection.

I recently went through the entire vinyl collection at the CD Warehouse in Sandy Springs (which now has a different name posted on the door). I found a few decent LPs there. There is a lot of the 60s era easy listening garage sale fodder- Ferrante & Teicher, Perry Como, Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, etc. They did have some decent classic rock.

Audio Atlanta closed, according to AKer GordonW---who worked there---because of a change in landlords and new plans for the building it and other businesses were housed in.

Yep, Eat More Records and also Ella Guru have both closed.

One more music store you might want to check out is Circle Sky Records, off Chamblee Tucker Road in Embry Hills: http://www.circleskyrecords.com/
