Atlanta audio recommendations?

JesusChrysler

...drives a Dodge ; )
Hi guys (n gals :))....

Headed to Atlanta in a few hours for 5 days of -somewhat- vacation.... my wifes second job is her business with Primerica; and we're going to their biggest convention of the year at the Superdome... everyday we will have stuff to do with that, but also lots of downtime.

Was wondering if there was any stereo shops that are a must-visit for a guy from Iowa that has never been to a proper Hi-Fi store ever... or any killer vinyl-houses in the area...

Pretty excited to get out of Sioux City for a while; and No Kids!!!!

Holy **** this happens to us maybe every 3 years....

:)

Signed Matt who can't sleep cuz he leaves in 3 hours....

I'd certainly recommend Audio Alternative. If you want to buy Vandersteen's best speakers and have a little less that $50,000 -- this is where to go!!

I've purchased stuff there (but not those speakers!!) and they've got stuff in all price ranges. Alan Jones, the owner is knowledgeable and helpful. I live in a different state about 3 hours away, or I'd visit more often myself

I'm sure you could get directions from their website (original name was http://yeswehaveawebsite.com) which still takes you there.) Just take I 85 east, go a few miles past I285, exit on Indian Trail and go a few miles more and it's on the right.

The first time I went to Atlanta looking for audio stores, this was the first one I went to. I didn't go any further but I'm sure there's others also.

Visit Benny at Modular Electronics for a selection of hand built tube pre-amps, power amps, and speakers as well as gently used high-end components.

Audio Alternatives, in Lilburn, is my first stop for my audio needs. There's also a home theater shop on Peachtree, in Buckhead, and another on 41 near Smyna/Marietta.

Now if you want vinyl or CD's...
Ella Guru, on LaVista Rd, in Oak Grove. (Look in the dollar crates)
Wuxtry, at Clairmont and N Decatur, near Emory.
Wax 'n' Facts in Little Five Points.
Records Galore, on E Ponce de Leon, in Clarkston.
The Book Nook; one's right down the street from Audio Alt, on US29, near the corner of Indian Trail. Another at Clairmont and N Druid Hills, about halfway between Wuxtry and Ella Guru.

Welcome to Atlanta. Have fun!

BTW, $50K is just for the Vandys. The whole system that's set up with them is a bit more....

Isn't the Superdome in New Orleans? :scratch2:

Thanks guys!

Can't wait to stop a couple of these places!

And yeah, I meant the Georgia Dome. I'm a little daft.
