My 1st post here. I thought I'd post a heads up. It looks like some folks (mainly 1) are getting rid of a lot of older gear around Atlanta. I'm still pretty new to this hobby so not sure if the prices are good or not but it looks like a decent selection to me. Maybe an Ak'er? Anyway, I thought I'd post a link to the classified's in case anyone is in the market..No affiliation at all

Forgive me if I am off base here. But your first post is a "heads up" post? Most of us audio nerds scour CL on a daily basis. So its not really a "heads up" if you will. So its sorta suspicious at best.
 
Two items chosen at random that happen to be the same seller... I must say, that doesn't seem all that random.

Having said that, I routinely look at craigslistings in Indy, Louisville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Atlanta, Tampa and it does seem that at the moment, there are several interesting deals in Atlanta and if I lived there, I'd probably grab those Polks if they checked out.
 
that guy is ron nice enough guy but he floods the atlanta craigslist with post after post day after day every now and then he'll have something nice like the polks but he mostly has a lot of lower end gear
 
the one good thing about him is that gordan w does his refoams and other work. he's a little like me in that we both like the buying and selling part of the hobby. we both know our limitations and where I'll refoam or strip and restain he flat out admits he doesn't have the patience for it. I tend to veer more for the speaker side where he likes the electronics side

I still remember where I responded to an ad where someoneone said they were giving away what I thought was vintage samsung gear. it turned out it was a yamaha junk system from the late 80's probably. I couldn't even get myself to plug it in and see if it works so donated it to Goodwill. A couple days later he had it listed on Craigslist.
 
^That is usually my issue. Knowing how flakey some CL sellers are. And living way out north of Augusta. Most times the "good stuff" is near Atlanta. And that is a haul for me. I have had my bro in law that lives in Douglasville pick up a few things for me before though.


And what he's asking for the RTA12's....that is getting close to SDA money there. A little high imo. I don't see any evidence of them getting wet either. Those passives fronts will bubble like that. I've seen many do that.

I do I do! The new format sucks. I thought it was just me 'cause I got a new compooter with Windows 8 and I thought that's just how CL interacted with it, but I guess they just had to tinker with the CL format and screw up something that worked perfectly.

Sometimes pictures appear with lettering superimposed over them, sometimes only half the picture, sometimes only a little thumbnail pic. :wtf:

Can't just leave a good thing alone!
 
Our craigslist is decent but tends to be overpriced a lot of the time. What other AK'ers are from the Atlanta Area?
 
I use to live in Douglasville, just west of Atlanta. I am now about an hour NW of Augusta.

The majority of stuff is overvalued by the sellers, but if you are diligent and pounce quickly you get some amazing stuff. In the last year I have been able to snag...

Near mint pair of AR2ax in original boxes for $50

Excellent pair of Yamaha NS690's for $50

Near mint pair of pretty rare Sansui SP-300's for $99

Very nice Pioneer RT-707 for $45, and Pioneer RT-909 for $200

Magnepan MG-II's near perfect but missing bases for $50

and best of all... a Mcintosh MCD-7000 CD player, Denon DP-72L TT w/ Signet 10K-ML cart, Kenwood KR-6030 rcvr, AR-11's, a Nakamichi 480 cassette, an 80's Onkyo 80wpc rcvr ( can't recall the model), an old Aiwa casette, a decent rack and a box full of original manuals and accessories all for a grand total of $100 and everything in fantastic condition and working perfectly.

The NS690's had a shifted magnet on one woofer but aside from that I have not had to repair anything.
