Atlantean 210 Speakers (Atlantis Corp)

New here! Looking to replace two mid-range speakers in my Atlantean 210 Speaker Cabinets. Can anyone help send links or find two speakers that will work please?

5.5” diameter bolt hole
8 ohm
4.75” cabinet cutout hole

One of the speakers is really crackly and scratchy, and sounds blown out.

First step is to swap mids and see if the sound moves to the other speaker. What you might have is a crossover that needs to be done.

Are you suggesting to move the mid-range in the right cabinet to the left cabinet? Then vice versa? The mid-range speakers are connected to the 2 woofers in each cabinet, by the way. Thanks!

I switched mid-range speakers to opposite cabinets and the left cabinet seems to be clear and crisp, whereas the right cabinet is scratchy, crackly & muffled (regardless of whichever mid-range is playing). What are your thoughts on that? Thank you!

When you push gently and evenly on the midrange's cone, does it feel scratchy / rubbing ?

If so, mayby the voice coil has heated up and swelled.
If so ( again ) , it is time to look for a replacement...and it does not look that easy.

These look like good speakers but, rare.

The problem is there's no easy off the shelf replacement. The two options are 1) going to Parts Express website and get help. 2)You could have the driver repaired by Millersound. Don't know how much they charge.

So does the scratchiness travel with the midranges, or is it in the right cabinet regardless of the midrange driver installed? Just clarifying.

I think it's just the one driver. I would check on the cost of having the driver fixed. Might be cheaper then new drivers.

I had the same confusion while reading the response.

To further clarify to OP: You might want to put a piece of blue tape on the basket of the offending midrange, then swap again. If the speaker with the taped midrange sounds bad after moving, that's the culprit. If the scratchy sound stays with the cabinet that doesn't have the taped midrange, it's the crossover.

I've had to do this before. I thought I remembered which driver/speaker combo was bad, but didn't. Now I mark the suspected driver with a sharpie or tape or something.

If the midrange driver is at fault, I highly recommend Millersound!
