Attaching Heresy Slant Risers

Thinker

Super Member
Hi Everybody,

I was just about to attach my slant risers and was wondering, are they suppose to be centered on the bottom, or is the back of the riser suppose to be flush with the back of the speaker?

Thanks

Though slight, I think it depends on where the sweet spot is in relation to the squawker dispersion pattern. I have seen the risers both ways and in between as well.

There's only an inch difference in front to back so I just split it and centered it with a half inch in front and a half inch in back

A Klipsch Product Support Representative provided me with the following information for the Heresy's:

3/4" rear height, 2 3/8" front height
Back of riser almost flush with back of the speaker.
About an inch less all the way around the sides and front

I am not sure of the accuracy of the information provided but I wanted to post it.

Have you turned the speakers over? Some are predrilled for Risers. :tresbon:

IIRC the older HI were pre drilled.:scratch2: My 1989 HII are not pre-drilled, I just looked. Mine are on 26" tall stands. I never purchased the risers for them. My 79 Corns we purchased new came with risers attached and they are flush on the rear.

One pair of my HII, circa 1986 is predrilled.

Single HII, circa 1991, is not.

Signature Edition HII, also 1996, came with flat risers.

If you mount the slant riser flush at the REAR you will point the speaker UP higher.

Umm, No.

No matter where the riser is attached, the speakers will still have the same upward angle...

?? Not according to what I learned in geometry or physics in the past. As the height or the leading edge of the riser is a constant the further out from the point of intersection of a triangle, the lesser the angle and consequently the height of whatever it supports. With only a 1/2" variance not much of a change but extrapolate it to say 100' and give it some thought just logically, not even using math.

If the slant is on the floor I agree. I will have to look and see if the angle side is is screwed to the cabinet or rests on the floor. Like I said I did not purchase a riser for my HII. My riser for Cornwalls are Not angled.:D

EDIT I looked at the HII risers, the flush side IS mounted to the bottom the HII. You are correct sir.

Did you pass? :scratch2: :D

If the riser only elevated the front edge of the speaker you would be correct. But the riser elevates the entire speaker. It's a constant angle ramp. Slide the speaker up and down the ramp and the angle is the SAME.

Oh, the only pair I have ever seen had the flat on the floor and the slant up. I wonder if depending on the production dates they changed. My HII do not have a riser.
