Single 260 (old label) on eBay (no affiliation):

Single Fairchild 260 Tube Amplifier EL34 1614 5v4g 12au7 untested single unit | eBay

Very rare Fairchild 260 Mono tube amplifier. I know nothing about these tube things. I did plug it in but, no tubes glowed. So this unit is as is for parts and repair. This is for a single unit not sold as a pair.

If they checked the fuse, and the fils don't light, not a great sign...maybe the switch, but that's a gamble I would not take. It looks like mine, but mine never had any labels, so I had them made.

Can any of you guys tell me the differences between the early versions ( black badges) and the later ones with the gold badges.

I'm not sure where the difference happens, but there was a change to EL-34(6CA7) from 1614 at some point, other than that I do not know of any.

The change to 6ca7 was a factory mod labeled 260r (r standing for revision).I have a copy of the revision for anyone that wants it.

I think Dave G saw some circuit differences on the 275, but it was a while ago, and memory is not as good as it it used to be..

Dont know about that but I know the rules for buying and selling and just sold a single Altec 604b with ñ 1000b crossover the other day.

As with anything you buy online - be damn sure it’s legit. Not sure how to verify a person on Facebook is not a scammer if you can’t pick it up locally.

Marketplace is full of scams. I do searches for the images posted to see if they're from some four year old Reverb listing, and I sometimes request specific photos to verify that they have the item. Often I don't get past step one...

I have recently discovered that there is a transformer manufacturer in the same city as the company that made Fairchild’s transformers, and with a very similar name. Their website only claims a 40 year history, but I have reached out to see if they are related to the 1950s company and if so, if they have any remaining data on the Fairchild transformers. I haven’t had a response yet, but I’m going to keep trying.

I picked up an Ugly single 260 for a bit over 1K Thinking I might need a spare set of transformers.
Missing the bottom plate. But it was totally Recapped. I just don’t have the stones to put tubes in it to try it out
It’s a bit newer than my pair as it has the brass
Look front plate.
My pair and Sancho’s single are the earliest

That thing is clean compared to my rebuilt Fisher 70 monoblocks. If it has been rebuilt, don’t worry about the cosmetics. Rust on a potted transformer can isn’t going to keep an amp from working.
