I have the manual for the Sansui au 217 and it clearly says to load 8 ohm speakers Both editions are rated for 8 ohms.AU-217 II is not rated for 4 Ohms, AU-217 is. It will run Elac speakers fine at reasonable levels, but it is not a powerful amp and main limitation is power output, not 4 Ohm capability.

Being rated for 8 Ohms does not mean 8 Ohm is minimum impedance. If it was, there would be a warning on the back panel next to the speaker connectors, like it is on the next generation AU-217 II where there is a printed warning "8 Ohms or more". AU-217 does not have such warning.I have the manual for the Sansui au 217 and it clearly says to load 8 ohm speakers Both editions are rated for 8 ohms.View attachment 3308478View attachment 3308492

Yup, that's why I jumped on them based on the specs. Those should be a great start!
Some info from the owner manual:
Frequency range: 45 hz to 20khz
Sensitivity: 92 db
Power handling: 25 watts continuous; 100 peak
6.5" shielded woofer/ .75" ferro-fluid cooled tweeter, mounted coax with acoustic lens
Perfect. Post a listening report. Curious what you think of them. Congrats!Yup, that's why I jumped on them based on the specs.
Any recommendations for some nice sounding bookshelves?
