AU-505 "Flutter"

I've been enjoying my AU-505 for a few weeks; however, a couple days ago, I noticed what I can only describe as a "flutter" or a "whoosh" in the right channel. It's not constant and sounds like a light burst of static with the edges smoothed. I'm not practiced in describing these sorts of things, obviously! Anyway, I've pulled the AU-505 out of the system and inserted the Sansui 800. Any ideas about what my next step should be?

If it's like a "shush" it's probably a transistor gone noisy.

Are you up for DIY replacement or is it going to the Dr?

Try replacing the two transistors on F2001. I had a very similar problem after a recap. Base to collector measurement on one of them was all over the place.

Yes -- it's like an intermittent "shush." I'm planning to send it to a "doctor" for a recap in the near future. I'll mention the resistors to him.
