AU 519 is acting up

I am having an issue with my AU-519 amp. I am running both A & B channels. It will work great for a few minutes the amp goes quite on both channels. I found out that if I turn the speaker switch to off, turn the volume all the way up and back down, then turn the speaker switch to A & B again the amp works fine for a few minutes then it goes quite again. I did clean all the switches and controls.

Any suggestions?

You stated that you're using both A & B together. Are your speakers rated 8 Ohms or above each and don't go below that?
 
Try tapping on the speaker protect relay on the power supply board when the drop out occurs. Use something non-conductive like a plastic pen or chopstick.

Also, did you clean the connected/separated switch on the rear panel?

The connected separated switch can cause intermittent drop out - try operating in for a done or more times, that can temporarily allow better contact to be made. You can also use a set of jumper (or an RCA lead) to physically connect the pre out to main in jacks.

Not exactly, the relay activates but because, (we suspect) the contacts are oxidised or pitted, only partial or intermittant contact is being made, (or so we suspect). The tell-tale for this was that if you increase the volume briefly, the sound output returns - classic symptoms of a relay that needs to be replaced.

A way of checking for this is to tap the relay firmly with the blunt (insulated) end of a screwdriver, and see if you can make the fault worse or better.
 
Thank you for all your suggestions. It turned out to be the connected/separated switch on the rear panel. I cleaned it w/DeoxIT and the unit works great.
