Au 555a pre out trouble

I’ve posted this to exclusively sansui with no answer so I’ll throw it out here too. I’m trying to use my au 555a as a pre amp for an mt 34 mk 2 tube amp but I’m not getting full power to my left speaker. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Not good to double post.

Does the 555 work normally if you hook up speakers? Have you tried different cables? A different preamp with the tube amp?
Do some basic troubleshooting.

Oh, jeez hopefully everything will be okay. Everything works as it should on its own and I’ve switched the two interconnects.

At this point the issue would be with the Power amp not the Sansui as all you're using that for is for Pre-Amp duty.

How are you connecting the Sansui to the MT-34



For those following along the tube amp in question is a Boyuurange MT-34 MKII integrated amp

If the Sansui works fine by itself with speakers, your problem could either be bad interconnects or the other amplifier you are using.

When you swap the pre out Right and Left from the Sansui pre outs, does the MT-34 right speaker now sound quieter?

I'm not seeing how he's interconnecting to the Tube amp from the Pre-outs on the Sansui?

Edit: Is he not using the Pre-Outs instead Tape (Sansui) > Tape (Tube amp)?

I’ll try to pick up some more rca cables and try that. Glad to hear it’s not the sansui. I expected the chifi to be hit or miss.

It should work. The Sansui does have pre out and main in jacks. The pins just need to be pulled and patch cords used from the Sansui pre outs to the MT-34 AUX inputs.

Only thing here is that if there are no patch cords Y'd back to the Sansui, only the MT-34 will produce sound.

Tyguy1, not sure if the MT-34 has tone controls, but since it is an integrated amplifier, you will have two volume controls to contend with.

Most people having more than one amp like to run 4 speakers instead of 2.

You would have 2 speakers connected to the Sansui, and 2 speakers connected to the MT-34. The Sansui would be the main control unit with its own pair of speakers, and the Sansui will also control the MT-34 with its own pair of speakers.

Jesus, okay. I was trying to use the sansui for the tone controls. Try and tone down the shouty ness of the mt34. I don’t know how to patch it back to the sansui.

Lol, no offense. There are many ways to connect and build and add on equipment for one big stereo system. You have the startings of going down a big rabbit hole.

My home stereo consists of 3 tube amps, 2 solid state amps, a mixer board, EQ, tuner, turntable, reel to reel, dynamic processor, reverb, and 5 pairs of speakers total.

To go back to the Sansui, you just need a pair of Y's like in the picture below, and one more pair of patch cords.
