AU 666 and Carver M 200t

Recently got a Carver 200t to use as a power amp with my Au 666 as the pre amp. When I connect the Carver to the pre outs on the 666, the speaker selector switch has no effect. Is this normal ? All other switches and knobs function correctly. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Yes it's normal. The speakers are connected to the Carver. Any speaker selection must be done there. Pre-out bypasses all of the amp section on the Sansui.
