The MY4-02-DC24 has 4PDT contacts whereas an MY2-02-DC24 has DPDT contacts, otherwise they are pretty much identical.

The MY4 might be regarded as best because you can parallel the extra pair of contacts (to make 2 sets per circuit) to (in theory) halve the contact resistance presented and/or lengthen the life of the contacts.

I think I am right in saying that the correct relay for an AU-517 is the MY2, but for the AU-717 the MY4 is correct - due to differences in the PCB on which the relay is mounted.

OK, thanks for the info. I just took a closer look at the underside of the board with the original Taiko still in -- it's definitely an MY2 because the centre holes for the extra MY4 contacts are unused.

Note that the size of the contacts on the MY2 relay are larger than that of the MY4 relay. From the current capacity specifications of the relays (5A vs. 6A, respectively), the contact resistance advantage of the extra set of contacts in the MY4 is possibly ~20%.

To install the MY4 relay in the AU-717, the "extra" contacts can be removed.
 
The unused holes in the 717 are simply solder covered. Suck off the solder and use an MY4.

The contact rating of the MY2 is 5A per contact, so 5A per channel. The MY4 is 3A per contact, for 6A per channel.
