AU-717 Resistor question

The F-2721 and F-2722 boards have 2 each 150 ohm 1/4 W 5% carbon resistors that are out of spec and need replacing. I've read in other posts that these are chronic problems but I haven't found what they should be replaced with. I guess my choices are to go back with the original but I would like to "strengthen" this weak link if I can for future performance. Would a 1% metal film replacement be better? I've even read that some folks increase the wattage to 1/2 instead of the original 1/4.

I'm a little confused also about the difference between Sansui's "carbon" resistors and the replacements I find that are carbon film or carbon composition. What are the best replacements for Sansui's generic carbon resistor? Can I use metal film instead?

The old carbon resistors could catch fire. You should not be able to buy them new.

Use metal film resistors. They are just slightly more expensive than the common carbon comp resistors.

Oh, and use 0.5w replacements - the ones I used were metal film 1% 0.6w and were slightly smaller than the originals.

Good point about the 82 ohm ones the tone control board - same treatment.
