AU-Alpha 607 DR

O au-d11mK2

So i had the chance of purchasing a Au-alpha607dr !!! During audition there was noise on left chanel, we changed loudspeaker L/R and the amp stayed in protection... :-( We opened up and found some smal resistors burned on the cards. Same on both. Not sure that is the reason, but I could not help myself and bought it.

Am now wondering if I should use my a911dg as donor... I se the 607 has much better phono stages and think a quick change might be dac out and phono in... (quick and dirty).
I’m in the end looking for the sonic quality’s in the 607! I have put the 911 for sale at equivalent of 400eur (local pickup)

Am I thinking totally wrong?

I have seen other forum members discussing these models and hoping for some feedback.

Thanks

I had the au-707dr and was the best sounding sansui amplifier i ever had. It was only lacking the bottom end grunt that the b-2301 had. Now using atc active amplifiers which was an expensive upgrade. Alphas are well worth the money and I regret selling it.

I have the X711 (it should sound like the X911DG since I understand that it is basically the same amplifier) and the 607DR. I like more the sound of the 607DR, although by little difference. The two, together with the X901, sound great. I would stick with the 607DR, it's a step up in the excellent alpha.

Thanks, have now sold the 911dg, so no cross harvesting. Im keeping th 607, il post some pictures!

The a-901 is in daily use with cdx701 can’t praise it enoug this combo, the au9500 occasional, with the
D11mk2. These have been my vinyl and reel to reel matches. Th au9500 is quite nice with the Revox B77, also graphically.
