au-x1

Hello,
I'm looking for some opinions on the au-x1. Anyone here own one? (or two)
I have found a few things on the web regarding some "oscillation" issues, but are there alot of issues with them? How good do they sound vs. au-919 or b-2101? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

The AU-X1 is the best integrated amp that Sansui ever made! Some of the early ones had some kind of stability problem driving lower impedance SPKr loads as I have understood it. If you can get your hands on one, by all means get it! Echo Wars (EW) is someone that can advise you and in fact can work on this thing. To have one in good stable working order would be a very special catch!

Not sure, it is very good, but the best:scratch2:
What about AU-X11? or AU-X1111MOS Vintage, or Alpha series, or.... so many very good amplifiers Sansui made in the past...

OK, it is not the best but one of the best:yes:
There are/were some stablity problems with the X1 followed by blown outputs in one channel and some driver transistors and resistors.
I think most of the trouble is in the pre amp and the MM phono amp.
Later on in the productionproces Sansui designed completely new MM phono boards, but they are very hard to find, but I have them, hé, hé:D
I have had 9 X1's(and sold some) and non of them had the new MM phono boards.
My advice if you have a good working one:
Start it up with the volume all the way down,
Never change cables if the amp is "on"
If you don't need "phono" don't use it.
But my best advice is: please use the search, because there is a lot more to find about the X1.

Let's say: One of the best :thmbsp:

Any thoughts on current value for the x1 assuming it works properly...minor cosmetic flaws....etc.
