AU777 Questions

Hello all
I was able to get an AU777 with some issues I am trying to solve in other threat.
I have some questions for AU777 owners out there.
1. My amp came with a wood case, however after removing it I was surprised that no metallic cover was present underneath... before finding this amp I thought the Au777 came only with metallic covers. Was this an option when buying? the case seems original, it has the same styling as the 666 or 888...
2. RCA sockets in the back... the ground area of the sockets are thicker than normal so some of the RCA cables won't plug properly... any solutions available?
3. the interconnect jumpers for the power amp / preamp were missing....any place where I can find replacements?
Looking forward to know a little more about this amp.

Thank you

Hello @darai22jp welcome to AK. I have a Sansui AU-777D which is a Japan-only model. Congrats on your purchase, Sansui are great Hi-Fi equipment despite the age.

To answer your questions:
1.) Yes, there was a wood case option for many Sansui AU-xxx models. Yours is lucky to come with one. I hope it's in good condition. The metal case it came with must have been discarded by the last owner, unless you have contact with the original owner, you might as well stick to the wood case you have. The metal case cannot fit under the wood case.

2.) Considering the year it was produced, there were possibly different machines between manufacturers that produced RCA sockets. Although they are slightly thicker, you can still use them as is but you may have to widen the ground plug of your RCA cables. Another solution is to replace the old RCA sockets with new ones. But you might spend more on it that just new cables.

3.) You can use short RCA cables as substitute to the jumpers of the pre-main sockets. If you really want the original metal jumpers, you can have them made. Just research on the dimensions or measure them meticulously.

I hope you have fun with your AU-777 :)
