Audax TW025A0 to replace Peerless 811827

I have some bad tweeters in my Snell Type E IVs. The backs are bad, and I will replace with some NOS Peerless. One front is bad, and I can get a NOS Peerless 811827as a replacement or go with a new pair of Audax TW025A0. The Audax would be cheaper. I was wondering whether they would be an upgrade over the old Peerless.

I'd stick with the original Peerless tweeters.

I may go this route. I only paused, because I heard from someone that new tweeter designs are often better than old. The Peerless are maybe 25 years old?

That's generally true but you can't just arbitrarily swap drivers. When a speaker designer does the crossover work, that takes into account the acoustic and electromechanical behavior of the cabinet and drivers. So changing a tweeter in this case would probably require a crossover modification.

In short, you can probably use a Peerless 811815 diaphragm to replace the 811827 diaphragm. Just make sure to use the original Snell magnet and retain the ferrofluid.
