Audio Adventures With The Legend Audio LEG-7000s

So, I saw these on the auction site as a local pick-up only in Marietta (just north of the evil Atlanta) which is about a 90 min drive for me. The price was, well, I'm not sure, is it good manners to discuss such things? Anyway, lets just say I've seen what y'all are calling big store junk for much more. I know I'm supposed to audition, but it just seemed to good to pass up. I bought it nowed and got up early and hit the road in the rain. A great transaction ensued during which I got some background including the fact that they had been dormant for about a year and they were retired to make way for a complete set all with the same make of driver. Fair enough, as for the price? He had reduced five times because no one wanted them local and he didn't want to ship. We loaded them and they were heavy, which is good I'm thinking to myself. Got them home and hooked them up to my Parasound HCA-600 and spun Wilco's I AM Trying To Break Your Heart followed by Gillian Welch Down In Dixie and I'm thinking, "good but not great". My daughter's Twenty One Pilots Heavy Dirty Soul was next and the bass came screaming to the forefront. I could feel it and almost see it. Now we're getting somewhere. Next up, U2's new mastering of Joshua Tree side one. Things started to really click. The guitar started to chime and the vocals developed a slight timber. During Jason Isbel Flying Over Water, there was a guitar snippet that came out of the right speaker and floated to the top corner of the room. I had to wonder if it was me and my past indiscretions or the amp speaker combo. I was happy enough with them by now, delighted actually, and decided to take them for a final spin. Volume up and cued The Flaming Lips Turn It On and the world stopped turning, the rain fell up and the cats lost their minds. The clarity was unreal because the treble finally showed up to meet the tight, punchy base. Mids brought the vocals out and were round and smooth. Nothing out of balance, nothing harsh, and not a darn thing wrong with them at all. I guess they just had to be burned in a bit after resting for so long. If you can find anything in this series, be sure to check them out. I'm glad I did.

Hey Andrew Heck, and welcome to AK! It's good to have yet another southerner on board. I love Tennessee. Nashville is always a hoot, but the rest of the state is simply gorgeous. My friend and I rode the Tail of the Dragon at Deal's Gap a couple of times (back when my years were smaller and my bravado much larger ), and got to walk around motorcycle heaven at the old HondaHoot. Oh . . . and had to pay your state a bit of cash for "improper lane change." The Smokey was a nice cop who welcomed us to Tenn, urged us to ride more carefully, and then closed out our chat - not with a warning ticket - but with a full tilt moving violation.

@gdmoore28, thanks for the pictorial reference and the welcome. Did that come from the auction site or have you found some information that has escaped me. I couldn't find anything on these speakers. They aren't even listed with the rest of the LEG series on the Legend Audio website. What have I found? I mean besides what I consider, in my small, uneducated, unworldly way, wholly exceptional speakers.
