Audio Cube and Mcintosh

I have a MA230 amp that caddy62 told me I could run from earphone out to
my MC240 input, because at this time I do not have pre amp.I was thinking of going from earphone out
to a Audio cube input that I have and out to MC240 this way i can have a remote for
volume and a way to connect the MA230 and MC240.
Does this sound like a good idea ?

I would recommend a McIntosh CR7 remote controlled preamplifier over the cube. It's more flexible, usually less expensive and...it's a McIntosh. ;)

In either case, it would run the remote unit between the tape monitor in/outputs of the MA230 with the headphone outs > MC240. The reason being the MC240 is designed to accept the high(er) voltage of the headphone output whereas the same inputs of either preamp are more sensitive thus more likely to be overloaded by the voltage of the headphone signal on all but the lowest volume settings were L/R tracking is least consistent.
