Audio Dynamics- a.k.a. NAD?

This does look to be built in the same factory as NAD used or uses. Very similar in how it is built and the control layouts and styling. Definitely close to NAD or Proton in build.
 
in that ADC has been gone for a while, i think someone glommed onto the name because it was free for the taking. i could be dead wrong here. i have never seen any of this merchandise out here in calif.

ADC was once a Ct company, yes, way back when, Milford, I think, cartridges, and maybe a US-designed equalizer. It was the latter that got the attention of BSR. They were bought. Before dbx died, a good-quality ADC line had been introduced including the Asia-sourced B200 configurable power amp and mated products, hoping to ride some cred from the phenomenal dbx BX1 out of Newton and its mated products. After dbx finally died and the second NAD-lookalike line trod water, the ADC B200 was rebadged BX2 and later there even was a metered and fanned (external) BX3. Anyway, B200 and dbx BX2 were okay amps, not at the NAD level really and not remotely like the BX1, but whatever. They work for the most part (relays need replacing sometimes) and I am still using my B200. I worked as editor/writer in dbx engineering 1982-1988.

My brother bought this stack, along with a pair of DBX speakers, straight from ADC when they were in the last throws of attempting to build a laser based phono player. He's a venture capitalist in the medical device field, and ADC happened to be sharing a building with a company he was funding at the time. This is some really excellent gear. It's in my second system right now and driving a pair of JBL SVA-1800 quite nicely indeed.

I was stationed in Germany in 1984, and I purchased my first NAD 2200 power amp through the base A/P club. It was made in London. After I moved back to the States in the late 80's, I purchased my second NAD 2200 through regular stereo shop. It was manufactured in Taiwan. They looked and sounded identical, except the London version had been manufactured with universal voltage.
 
Hi guys. Has anyone found a schematic for the ca2000e integrated? Not that I feel confident in my skills but I have one here with a left channel putting out about-160mv. The other side is as someone mentioned around 4.2. I get a sharp pop on that side when powering up and down or using a,b switch. Sound like a relay? It does usually take a minute or two for the relay to click. Unless cold then maybe longer
Looks like 2 omron 65r-2232 but can't find a replacement. Thanks.
 
i think the confusion between NAD and adc is what the acronyms are for.

NAD=new acoustic dimensions

I had this exact system in the late 80's/early 90's. It was a gift from my mom who worked at Mont. Wards and that's where she got it.

I'd actually love to find that system again and acquire it. I ran first a set of monster Jensen floor floor speakers which 15's and blew out 2 Windows playing NIN's song Down in It. I later had some smaller JBL bookshelf speakers (as punishment for terrorizing the neighborhood with Skinny Puppy at ear bleed levels hahahaha) and those were insane.

That system was excellent.

Yep, it looks like a NAD (the amp does, tuner and CDP not so much), but that doesn't make it a NAD. Same way many aspects of NAD design were heavily influenced by Dieter Rahms' Braun designs, but that did not make them Brauns. Proton and NAD, that's another story. Proton was not rebadged NAD, but they used NAD designs in and out. Without NAD's permission if I remember correctly.
 
I still have my ca-2000e here. Ill see if i can shrink some photos enough to get them on here. No sound until about 5 minutes warm time. I had found my old post here which jogged my memory to the relays which im assuming are the culprit. Strange pair of relays with a tiny board glued to the top of them with 4 wires going sonewhere.

Hi Niles,

Did you ever get to track down the issue with your 2000E? I am having a similar issue with mines...and sorry for reviving an old thread!
