Audio Extasa - WTH?

Anyone have any good experiences with this stereo reseller?

http://www.audio-extasa.eu/

I should had read some reviews before making a purchase. The guy does not answer emails, the item that I "bought" is still showing as available on the site a week later, he lets people hang for months at a time wondering where their orders are, doesn't answer phone calls, etc.

What I don't understand is how someone can get away with these kind of business practices for so long without either being shut-down or losing so much business that they are forced to shut down. Anyone on this forum had any experiences with them good or bad?

Well, the .eu immediately puts him over the pond, so whatever you decided to buy must have been very special?

If you didn't use Paypal, you're probably screwed! If thru ebay, you should also check their pay policies, which usually prefers or suggests PayPal as well!

You have to have used a credit card for that purchase as wire transfers and other no-recourse options would not be a good way to go for many types of purchases.

If you don't get satisfaction in short order (and I don't mean 36 hours after and order is placed the part is at the door) contact the credit card company and reverse the charge and keep looking.

Do not let the window of resolution pass you by.

I've spent some time on their site as they have lots of photos of interesting equipment.

They do list an address and phone number on their web site. Did you try to call?

The address looks like a run down residential area with street level stores on Street View.

OK. They are up in Berlin. I will be happy to look around in the German speaking webz and see what I can find out about them. Might take a day or 2. Judas Priest is closer than I am, perhaps he has some knowledge.

Cheers,
James

Well, so far after a couple of hours looking around the news is not good. Peoples comments in German are largely as you describe, they appear to be quick to accept payment on orders and very slow to deliver, with poor to non-existant customer service. Their domain is apparently on a server in Poland. People have reported receiving defective goods and having problems with returns/refunds. Some people report receiving their goods in good condition but only after a very long wait. Their prices seem very high imo. They also apparently do a lot of ebay business under a different name and have a lot of complaints registered.

Here are some (english language) samples...

Freddy Krueger (which is a nickname one of his 'happy' customers gave this guy) tried to expand to Poland two years ago via Polish auction site. His prices were 2-4x higher than average prices here, so over the last 2 years he managed to sell only 50 items. He had only one negative comment (amp he sold died after one hour of use, seller did not respond to emails, so obviously anything he writes about warranty, return options etc. is complete BS) and few positive comments mentioning long waiting for delivery.

Anyway, I'm not at all surprised that the company and website still exists. His costs are probably minimal so he can simply keep the website up, sit and wait for buyers. As far as I could determine based on buyers' comments, it looks like it's not a scam, simply an unreliable seller.

Doity, I hope you get the item you bought, but be prepared to have your patience tested. Also, they seem to only respond to emails before you buy, and according to those who managed to get through with a call, they do not speak English. If you have a German-speaking friend, might come in handy.

Thanks for the follow-ups everyone. I called my bank and they said that the only thing that I could really do was to put a stop to my credit card and wait for a new one. Which is what I decided to do. i just don't understand how someone can go through the effort of putting up an online store and then not to respond to sales/buyers or potential buyers. It leads to posts like mine and people will eventually get wise. He does have some nice stuff on his site that he might or might not have in inventory.
