Audio Research LS1 Pre-Amp for MC2205?

Would this LS1 be a good match for MC2205? The main reason I choose this is because there is one said unit offered to me at a reasonable price, and I have been using the MC2205 without a pre for quite some time.

I haven't owned that specific ARC preamp. However, I've used several with various Mac amps over the years with great results.

Certainly compatible in terms of electrical characteristics.

Tonally speaking, the LS1 (which was the line stage only version of the SP9) is a touch lean in the lower midrange. Which might work well with the "warmth" you find with Mac amps.

I like tube preamps with Mc Amps. Rounds out the mid in my opinion and allows great soundstage.

Just be aware it is a hybrid using JFETs for gain and a 6922 dual triode that serves as output buffer. One half for each channel.
