Audio Research Technology Model 2200 Speakers

I just picked up these speakers at a garage sale. I am having a hard time finding out anything about these speakers or the company. One article said the parent company was McIntosh that also owns many other high end audio companies.

They are the size of bookshelf speakers and very heavy. The tweeters are on the top of the speakers with some kind of metal screen material covering.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few pictures to help identify these speakers. Does anyone know anything about this brand or company, where they’re from or when they were made?

Had posted this thread on here a while back and came up empty. I thought I would give it a refresh to see if any fresh eyes have any information on these speakers or this brand or speaker company.

Audio Research Technology is not Audio Research Corporation which was owned briefly by the group that owns Mcintosh.

???

I'd try looking closely at Audio Research history to see if those were a result of in-fighting ..and an unusual design with those tweeters on the top ..
Omnidirectionals were the thing for a while ..

No way to get a look at the drivers ??

Yes I kind of came that solution, that they are not the same as Audio Research that was affiliated with McIntosh Labs. So I just pulled the front covers off. In a word YIKES!!! They need to be reformed an probably other stuff as well. Definitely need to find a speaker repair shop that can do these as well as some work on ESS PS8H speakers that I have. The HEIL tweeters won't stay attached to the horn shell and the horn shell won't stay attached to the rest of the cabinet. The repair shops I have talked to so far do not work on the ESS speakers with the Heil tweeters. So if any body has an idea on a repair shop that will work on the ESS speakers, preferably within a 100 miles or so of Orlando I sure would appreciate the information. Even if further away if needed.
Thanks

Joke (hence the smiley face). the upfiring drivers made me go there.

Dolby Atmos is that new tech where there are up firing drivers for spatial height to the HT action.

Thanks for the info KFA888. I guess these were ahead of their time considering the fact that they have been around long enough to have the surrounds on the woofer almost completely gone. Until I pulled the front covers today I didn't know what they needed because the sound wasn't bad. I would think if they are rebuilt they would sound much better.

I meant Acoustic Research history .. not Audio Research which makes electronics ..
Back of head little remembered but maybe a fight between principles about whether to market an omni-directional speaker ..
