So,I have a Sansui Au717 and for the most part running a Fluance rt87 with an Ortofon 2mblue.
I have a pair of OLA Advent utility speakers on top of Klipsch kg4s,I usually don't run together but some of my classic rock albums sound better on one or the other.
I'm looking for 1 pair to do the job but also need these to be accessible for the most part, not a hard to get pair.
My budget would be about 600.00 as I will sell both pairs of mine off to get the cash,or maybe a bit more.
Also,I have a 10 inch sub hooked to preput on amp.
I need help,lol.Any suggestions?
Remember they must be easily gotten.

Tell us more, what do you want more of, or less of?
Its hard to beat the dynamics of a horn speaker,
so if you like those for what they do keep em.
Maybe swap out the ola for something new.
You have a sub, so maybe a nice bookshelf speaker.

Have you heard anything that you have really liked, even out of your price range? Any dealers near you? More than any other component, speakers can be very personal.

I hear you about some music sounding good on certain speakers, but not great on others! Like sound hound said, everyone has their priorities when it comes to speakers. I've always enjoyed the sound of the Vandersteen 2C series, but some might find them a little boring. I had a pair of KG4s and they were not my cup of tea. Since you're near Minneapolis, there are probably a few vintage stores nearby. I get occasional facebook ads for Twin City Smitty's (maybe because my brother lives in Stillwater?) but I have never been there.

You could try a BSC on your Advents to see if you like them better with it. Costs about $20 to make and you can do it in an hour.

If you do a little looking around here, there’s threads regarding upgrading the Twitter/diaphragm on the KGs and some others have replaced some or all of the caps.

Thousands of speakers could easily replace those two pair. You narrowed it down to hundreds with your budget and availability limitations.

Do we need to list these few hundred speakers or could you describe what kind of sound you want from the speakers and how loud they must play for those rocking all night long times?

Have you tried Stacked Advents. Many like them even if they are not perfect.

Get a pair of DCM Time Windows and move away from monkey coffins.

There is a pair of JBL 4425's locally on MP. He doesn't list a price so maybe you could negotiate but I suspect they may be a bit out of your range. They were about the only thing I'd entertain that are listed locally. There is a pair of JBL L7's over in Stevens Point, not a bad drive for a good reason. I'm a little nervous with those though- sounds like he's had his hands in them but I'm sure they could be made right if anything weren't quite right.
