Audio Technica AT15E?

I've recently acquired the above cart, and I'm trying to nail down some info on it, with few results. The lack of info would suggest it was not marketed in the US in that form.

I'm guessing it's a high-inductance version of the AT15 body. It's colored silver rather than gold, the stylus appears to be original. Basically, I'm interested in the following:

1. What is the stylus profile? I'm thinking it's a HE, along the lines of 2x7. But - bonded? Nude? Info on similar models suggests nude square shank.

2. Differences between 15E and 15XE, which was a US model?

At some point I'm going to want a new stylus for this - it sounds wonderful, but the cantilever is a bit off center and I have no idea of the hours on the point - and the original 15E stylus is available considerably cheaper than the 15XE (or anything else that is appropriate).

Thoughts?

BTW - I'm still enjoying my AT11 body with the ATS12S stylus, but this happened along and I couldn't refuse...we are all gear junkies, aren't we?:thmbsp:

I believe your correct as I've only seen two of those and that was on a Japanese audio site and the name slips my mind. I almost bought one of those myself.

Nobody else? I was hoping one of our resident AT experts would chime in. (Manfred, are you there?)

I know about the other styli that will fit - I had an AT15Sa once upon a time, probably never should have sold it. What I'm trying to find is info specifically on the E version, and the difference between that stylus and the XE.

Heckuva cartridge as is, BTW...very open and undramatic, just nice and linear as I remember from my old AT15Sa. Noticeably better than my other AT (as I would expect).

I think you might be right. I can't tell much with my little 30X handheld 'scope, but I can see well enough that it certainly looks bonded, not nude - and that would certainly account for the price difference in the replacements.

The one that I have certainly sounds OK, I may wait a little while before I replace it...and the XE seems like it would be worth the $35 difference.

1t: I can't imagine the ATN15E sporting a bonded diamond only. It was almost as expensive as the ATN15, so I'd rather expect to see a rectangular or square shank nudie on the ATN15E (presumably the latter). Compliance/tracking force was lower/higher compared to the ATN15XE, though.

1t: Oops, just noticed that I forgot to mention that, yup, the ATN15E is 0.2 x 0.7 mil.
