Audio Technica VM745xML setup issue

Hey all, so I'm having an issue setting up my AT-745xML. I just got it yesterday, got a second table and decided to upgrade my main table cart, and put my VM95 on my table that's going in to the bedroom

I am having sound issues, I don't know how to describe it other then crunchy, static, and distortion.

I first set it up on my "new" table, A Dual 1009SK2, had the issues, fiddle with alignment (I have a protractor), weight set to 2g (confirmed with scale). So I put it on my other table, A Technics SL220, same issues, fiddled for an hour, no changes. The issue does seem to get worse nearer the center of the album.

So I've tried it on 2 tables and 3 headshells, the only thing I can possibly think is that the counter weight on both table is pretty far back, but I honestly have no idea, and I'm hoping someone could shed some light

Thanks
Matt

Two tables, correctly set up, same result. If alignment checks out then it sounds like the cart is the issue. If it's getting worse as you go in maybe you've got the wrong template? Not the most forgiving cut, do need to get it correct. Not much else you can do besides maybe reseat the stylus. Can test the coils. Should agree just fine with the technics.

Counterweight position shouldn't do that, but it's possible you've got a heavier than ideal headshell? Still should not destroy the sound like you're describing.
