I found this site in the fall of 2006. At that time my equipment consisted of:

Hafler DH-200 amp bought in 1974
Hafler DH-101 peamp-1974
Marantz ST 400 tuner-1976
ADC soundshaper 33-1976
JBL Century speaks - 1972
Yamaha cdp-nonfunctioning
Nakamichi BX-3 tape-1978

After AK I acquired the following:

Receivers- Sherwood 7200S
Project One Mark 1500
Project One IC

Integrated - Yamaha CA-810

Amp - Adcon GFA-555

Preamp - PS Audio 4.6

CDP - Denon 810
NAD c542

TT - Rega P2
Pioneer 518

Tuner - Yamaha CT-810

Speakers - Infinity RSIIIa
OHM PRO/CAM 42
Infinity Reference ONE bookshelf
Advent Legacy

My main setup is the Adcom, PS Audio, NAD, REGA, ADC and the Infinity RSIIIA. I am loking for a suitable tuner in black.

Am I afflicted? Do I need to seek out professional help? Is there a chapter of Audioholics Anonymous in the Indy area? My wife is patient, but our house is becoming a warehouse. Did I mention I still comb CL 3-4 times a day and watch the newly listed items on e-bay twice a day.

Is there help for this situation?

How.....I know.....I am an Audioholic.

I was walking my dog.....when I walked past a yard sale.
The guy had a working Webster mono tube amp for $20.
Problem is.....I didn't have $20 on me.
So.....I offered my dog as collateral.....until I ran home, to get the $20.
He declined my dog.....and said he'd hold the amp for me.
Tube amp is now upstairs.....dog is now downstairs.
Glad I wasn't walking with my daughter............

Its a great hobby; but yep it can become an obsession. Once a system or a piece of gear gets you hooked, well you are hooked for good IMO.

Well, from someone who is a recovering Alcoholic, I can say the two diseases are very similar.:yes: They both keep you fairly broke all the time, cause you to tell "untruths" to your SO, and make you feel a little sickly when you need a fix.:D The main difference I see is that I never woke up with a headache, wondering what jail I was in due to the Audio bug.:thmbsp:

While I don't believe in either, I can't think of any time to not rock out. :yes:
 
Amassing stereo equipment may be an addiction, but it's a wonderful addiction!

I'm presently in a speaker buying thing right now. Got 5-1/2 pair, Only got 2 more pair to go! Only problem is that the ones I'm looking for are harder than nails to find. Almost impossible. Let's just say impossible. Never seen em for sale. ever. Someday.

I am slowly recovering from the addiction. I hit my turning point... It was at the end of last month. What made me realize the addiction... MOVE. 'Nuff said.

You don't know exactly how much stuff you have until you have to move it. That pretty much sucked. I purged a lot and still have a lot though. I pass up a lot of things now and have not spent much lately unless I really want or need something or it is a really easy profitable flip. The weight and space that this hobby abuses is astronomical. Vinyl, amps, speakers, record players, parts, the list is endless, as well as the boxes of "wires, misc electronics".

Next time I think I will take up feather collecting.

Just have to move it. It'll cure ya. You'll see...
 
Resistance is Futile!
From personal experience, there is no help here, at least for the addiction. A lot of encouragement, a lot of sage advise, and some new ideas about how to get it past the wife. Enjoy! At least the "morning after" you have something to show for it.
