I have a '94 Audiolab 8000DAC and three transports: a Sony CDP-X55ES CD player, a Sony DVP-S7000 DVD player, and a Yamaha CDV-1700 laser disc player. I use the toslink inputs on the Audiolab with inexpensive glass fiber cables I bought a while ago on eBay. I'm going to upgrade the cables to Lifatec SilFlex cables when I can get around to it to try to get a better sound out of my DAC. Would it be worth it to sell the Audiolab and buy a new Marantz CD-6005 or an Onkyo C7070, or would it be wiser to keep what I already have? Some people swear by the vintage stuff, others say it's better to go with modern, fairly inexpensive new equipment. I'm just wondering if anyone has an opinion on what course of action I should take...
