Audiophile documentary

I stumbled across this documentary about Greek audiophiles. The highlight is when they are asked how much they paid for their system - in front of their wives and children...

Believe me, you want to see that.

that's a wonderful little film that gets floated on these boards every now-and then. It's a particularly high quality production, i thought.

One memorable scene is where the guy states with some annoyed matter-of-fact sense that everyone knows you must have clean power running to your equipment. You just have to see it---the look on his face...

A more useful, albeit dryer video is this a film of this round-table discussion:
Deep Listening: Why Audio Quality Matters

Look forward to seeing that the next trip out of the sticks to the library or friends place with broadband.

What....I don't get it:scratch2:....are these guys not normal or something? I thought everyone had systems like that:yes:......wait.....ummmmm.......:tears:whhhaat !???

I hate to say it but all it makes me want to do is spend more money. I guess I am as kooky as they are!

Aren`t we all! We should all be so lucky as to be able to spend unlimited funds on our gear!

Watching that where the guy says he spent 20,000 euros, in comparison to the others, heck, that doesn't seem so out of the ordinary. It's all in how you look at it.

Unfortunetly, I look at it as if I want to eat and have a roof over my head, as well as a wife and such. :D

i waited 20:10 for one of those guys to slap on a Slayer record or something equivalent. but it didn't happen.

these guys aren't crazy, just passionate, its no difference than someone dropping 1.5 million on a Ferrari Enzo just to drive it 100 miles a year.

I love the guy who said it is crazier to buy a new Mercedes....couldn't agree more (and I'm a car guy too) Considering the depreciation, his $60k system is worth far more in 5 years than that Benz. I have only made money on one car in my lifetime (a 1973 BMW 3.0cs), but all of my audio gear is worth far more today than when I bought it.

My wife doesn't have an issue with the money. If our bills are paid, and we don't have any debt, then what I do with my money is up to me. She does however care about the space consumed. So I make it a very concerted effort to keep things tidy and integrate my gear, records, etc. into the house (thank you Sanus).
