I recently picked up one of these for a song and for the most part it works and (pleasant surprise) sounds pretty dang good to me! The tuner is one of the best I've owned, it picks up stations without an antenna! However, the switched outlets have been funky since day one.
If the unit has been unplugged for any stretch of time then the switched outlets work as they should, for about five minutes of the unit being plugged in/turned on. Whatever is plugged into the outlets will brown out and eventually die entirely. Cycling the power does absolutely nothing from that point until the power cable is unplugged from the unit and some time passes. Does not seem to be related to load, I have tried everything from a pair of mini monitors to a clock.
Is this a weak relay? Or bad caps? Moon phase? I have to imagine one of the wizards on here has encountered a similar issue before, perhaps on a different piece... Any suggestions are welcome! I'm currently trying to track down a service manual.
Thanks!
