Hello, my name's Caleb, lovely to be here.
I'm new to the hobby after a lot of time thinking about getting into vinyl my father offered me his old unused gear, so I'm the new owner of a Denon DP-57L turntable and a Luxman C-02 and M-02 preamp and amp combo and consider myself very lucky!
I'm a mechatronics engineer by education and a software developer by trade. I've dabbled with microcontrollers and constructing circuits for robotics which is a far cry from this style of electronics, but I knew enough to make sure to power on everything for the first time under a dim bulb tester to make sure nothing was catastrophically wrong. After making sure nothing went pop and no blue smoke was let out I hooked everything up and found that the right channel of the preamp was not outputting in stereo mode, but was in mono, so not only have I inherited some very nice equipment but I have also inherited a project.
My other hobby is film photography, so I spend quite a lot of time servicing and repairing old cameras, usually leaf shutters but I have been expanding into focal plane cameras of late and have some very interesting specimens on my workbench. I also shoot and maintain a well kitted out darkroom for developing and printing in.
I plan to start digging into these amps over the weekend and will surely be starting a thread to get some assistance in restoring this old gear to its former glory after a thorough inspection and a taking lot of photos.
