Automatic mechanism not working Dual 601

I've been using this turntable I bought refurbished for a year now, and slowly the automatic movement of the tonearm has degraded. Can anybody please give me some advice on how to fix?




The issue is that when I start the record player, the arm doesn't move over, it simply raises and falls back down. If I gently tap it while it's raised, it moves over fine. what could be the solution to this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Do some online reading about Dual 601 steuerpimple recplacement.

Fixed it and it works perfectly. Turns out it isn't anything mechanical such as the "steuerpimple" or lubricant. The balance of the tone-arm was just very off. It wasn't zeroed properly when I adjusted the fine dial.
