AV Out and/or Monitor Out question

I have a Yamaha RX-V473 A/V receiver and just acquired a vintage Fisher integrated amplifier. The Yamaha has internet radio and Apple airplay capabilities. I hooked up the Yamaha to the integrated amp via the Yamaha's AV OUT jacks, then connected those to the integrated amp's AUX input.

Everything works and sounds great when I select (on the Yamaha) tuner, aux, and cd. However, when I select internet radio or airplay, no sound is heard. It is quite, no noise, hum or anything. These worked perfectly when playing directly from the Yamaha. Anyone know what I am doing wrong, or if this is normal and maybe the internet radio/airplay signal goes through another route??? Any suggestions appreciated.

Going to take a guess here that the 'net radio is blocked by the receiver from going to AV out as that is intended to route sound and video to a tv.

Do you have a tape loop? If so, try the REC OUT points.

eHF: The usuer manual may tell more about it - but generally speaking modern, "digital" surround receivers very often do not provide a signal path from digitally connected or integrated digital sources to the analogue line-out(s). Probably foremost a question of cost saving, 'cause in the worst case that would mean an extra DAC plus some more DSP power and corresponding ports to provide a stereo downmix on the analogue line-out(s), while the main dac is busy delivering a decoded multichannel stream to the power-amp sections for driving a surround speaker set-up.

Well, and as your Yamaha doesn't sport any pre-outs except for the .1/subwoofer channel, the only ways to grab those signals would be either via the headphone output or via the front speaker outputs in combination with voltage dividers for appropriate attenuation.

On my Yamaha RX series receiver there is a signal on the AV Out jacks only if an active analog AV input is selected.

Thanks for the all the input. Not much info in the manual, but it does appear that only analog signals are passed through the AV outs on this Yamaha receiver. I was able to hook it up using the headphone jack as suggested. Not really the way I was wanting, but gives me everything available on the Yamaha and still sounds nice.
