Avatars, Freud and You.

Out of curiosity, back in the 80s, I remember seeing ads and hearing ads on the radio for belt drive turntables. They always came across as if to say that belt drive was highly superior to direct drive. Now, I see people singing the praises of direct drive. Having not owned a TT myself for years, what's up with what appears to be a massive shift in popularity from bd to dd?
Put it down to: The truth finally emerges.

I have always ended up back at my AR XA. Finally stopped trying to replace it years ago, finally modded it about 12 yrs ago.

Belts rule

Oh boy. I've probably owned more belt drives and a couple idler wheel drive turntables than DD. I like/d all of them. I like to swap out cartridges so the S shaped tonearms on my Technics tables makes that an easier process then that Pro-Ject in my avatar and later a Rega table. I have an old AR XA table I'd like to restore eventually, that was my first turntable - a great turntable imo. Listen to what makes you smile I guess.

I had to ditch Binky he was starting to really annoy me. I wanted to slap myself. Plus I was feeling a bit dumber than usual. Mona at the beach is much more aesthetic and soothing.

The images that make up all the individual avatars evoke certain emotional and psychology responses.

What kinda effect do you think your avatar has?
I never gave a thought about what kind of effect my avatar has, maybe I will change it.

Seems there's a resurgence of avatars that display women as a sexual object. Sometimes I like them and sometimes I don't. They do create a hostile envirnment for women though, maybe that's what some fellas want.

This would mean more coming from someone of the female persuasion.

I don't think one needs to be female to come to the conclusion that avatars featuring half-dressed women might make women uncomfortable. You just have to be a decent human being.
Dang. I guess this one doesn't make the grade.

Well obviously not all women feel this way, as some of them became “half dress” for a photo shoot, from which the avatar was created. So I like to go to the source. I don’t give any validity to hearsay.

Oh and please define half dressed. I want to be clear on what this means, is it a standard set in stone, or is it different things to different people?

Taste, moment, context and many more elements play a role when it comes to nudity.

But anyhoo, I'll stick with my current Avatar for a while.
