Ax Synth 2?

Hey guys!

I'm thinking of buying the keytar "Roland Ax-Synth".

Since it was released in August 2009, I was wondering if there will be a successor soon (Has anybody heard anything?) or if there popped up an adequate keytar during the last years. I'm asking because I am the master of bad timing and I'm quite sure, that if I spend $900 on this keytar now, Roland will release the Ax Synth 2 just the day after and reduce the price for the old one to $500. ^^

Best~

Key-tar?…Please just…:whip:Me!

Sorry couldn’t help having a bad 70’s flashback!
Just my personal bias but I don’t care much for synth sounds.
They always remind of bad prog rock from the 70’s & new wave bands from the 80’s
I much prefer real pianos, Fender Rhodes or tone-wheel organs.
But hey that is just me… if you dig em go for it!

As to your questions about the Roland here is a good review.
No idea if a new version is out or on its way.

I am not much of a keyboard player other than occasionally playing a little piano and B-3 on my demos.
On stage or real recordings I always use a “hired gun" keyboard player.

Good luck on your musical journey
Oh and always have fun!

Oh come on, Keytars are not THAT bad! xD

Okay, they always look a bit cheezy, but I think the Ax Synth is still a great instrument, coming along with good tunes and a great usibility. Well, as far as I know after watching a few videos and reading a few reviews (like the one you gave me, thanks for that!).

However, having a thing for keytars is a little unpopular, I know, and that's maybe why the Ax Synth seems to be the only one reasonable instrument at this time. Just imagine the world with only one playable e-guitar. Crazy!

You could always do a Wayne Famous and hang an entire Oberheim OB-X over your neck!
In all seriousness, it should be easy for roland to make a different version, since all they have to do is stuff the computer in a different box. As far as a successor, I've not heard any news.

And I rest my case…Totally 80’s……
Love the drummer in his underwear or is that a diaper?….LOL!

Call me crazy, but I've actually thought in this direction, too. I mean, the Ax Synth weighs 3,9 kg and there are regular home keyboards as light as this one! However, no one sells tailored "keyboard straps", am I right? Do these guys just take guitar straps and glue some pins on their keyboards to make it work? Oo

Everybody sells everything you could possibly want to buy, thanks to the internet. We are truly living in the golden age!

And no, not glue. They screw them in.

Which Yamaha do you mean?
