I would like to add "home theater" to my two-channel setup. I'm currently using an Adcom GFP-710 preamplifier, an Adcom GFA 555 Amplifier, and Meadowlark speakers.
I'm thinking about replacing the Adcom preamp with a Cambridge Audio Azur 540R receiver to use as a preamp/surround processor (using the pre-outs) while continuing to use the GFA-555 amp. I don't really care about the sound quality of movies, but I do care about the quality of the two-channel music. Do you think I'll take a sonic hit if I replace my Adcom preamp with the Cambridge Audio? The Adcom preamp isn't particularly spectacular. Is the preamp section of the Cambridge worse?
Anyone with experience with the 540R?
Thanks
