B-2102 & C-2102 new addition pair !

I took delivery of a very nearly perfect condition B-2102 and C-2102 yesterday.

They are said to have been 'seller refurbished', some work has clearly taken place, I can see that the work done is not up to my standard, (glue not removed, etc) so I have a little work to do

Adjustment checks revealed DC offset was close enough, but 2 (1 left, 1 right) of the 4 bias settings were set far too low.

Did some listening last night - very pleased indeed with them.

These are just a few quick pictures, when I can afford it :sigh: I will be fully restoring them both - more pictures then.

The parametric eq is well worth the Money in the pre amp.
And their sound as a combo is quite good.
I remember this combo was presented as a poor man's 2301.

Very nice. If mine were in better condition, I would still have them.

That preamp has a bunch of relays in it. I could not find replacements, so I removed them all and cleaned them. I had audio dropping issues.

Have fun with them.

Me too with my C-2101: Almost no signal trough any input. All due to the relais.

I don't think when you can afford it !.... I wonder if there is an addiction centre.
Did these use MOSFET's for the outputs ?. I always wondered how the MOSFET's sounded driving a set of speakers.

Thanks Mano, no these are standard bipolars, with the usual Sansui sprinkling of JFETs elsewhere.

MOSFET's driving speakers? - kind of soft and smooth, having somewhat muted treble response, would be how I would describe it.

JOMARK is right on the money again - the parametric EQ is a very good feature, yielding much much more than any tone control setup - poor man's '2301 ? - yep that's me.

Oh yes I'll try, but not so hot on receiver issues - 'cos i've never seen one to fix, except the '1000X' I bought and still have, with blown outputs, now fully functional

I am almost completely absorbed by Sansui integrated & power amplifiers.

But that doesn't mean I have no time for AK stuff.
