B@K EX442 Sonata

Hopefully it's not the same Ebay EX442 that I had to arm wrestle into a return for an intermittent channel ..
It went back but not withhout Ebay intervention ..

I hope it's not Akustic. I don't have speakers to test it with currently. Seller is from Alpine CA. Looks beautiful cosmetically.. But you never know..
Do you remember seller's details?
He goes by "Lando's Loot" 100% feedback.

Hopefully not ..
Can't remember but he had a lot of unrelated non-stereo stuff up ..
Been a while and I'm getting better at forgetting than I ever was ..

Try and convince them to pack it in foam if you can ... amps don't always travel well ..
He claimed it was fine when shipped but it wasn't when it arrived .. with kind of okay packing but it could have been better ..

That face plate looks just like mine, but yours has the external heat sink and the speaker terminals in a different spot. I would be curious to see some pics of the inside.

No internal pics. Looks cosmetically sound, but I might return it if it is indeed the same faulty one Akustic is referring to.

It doesn't really matter, as long as it corespondents with the L/R of the input, which is below each speaker terminal.

I also have the st-1400, which is only rated 100 Watts, was the 2140 a bit better than the st-1400 ?
Its hard to say because the 1400 was used powering a pair of my DIY Dayton Audio speakers before I went with the ST2140. I only tried the 2140 with the Vandersteen 2ci and sounded great.

I have the B&K Ex442 / not the Sonata... I paid $75 for it from some older person that sold it to me along with many other things, so I got lucky... you need to upgrade the original Capacitor Cans, big solid sonic difference, pay the money and get good ones, I paid $240 just for the 4 capacitors and I upgraded the bridges too...

Just finished designing the PCB as an upgrade kit for anyone who wants it, it sits on top of the capacitors :). I just submitted it today to manufacturing... super excited :)

Will that PCB mod work on the Sonata series?

don't know / open it up and show pictures / the company re-used the same boards across different models, won't know until you open it up.
I have a line on a pair of B&K M200 Sonata mono blocks. The seller decided they needed to visit his tech before selling them to me. I hope to have pics to share by the end of December. Are you the Kodiak (beer/brewing?) guy with the V2 boards?
