B&O Beogram 3404 Cartridge replacement.

A gentleman on a local Vinyl lovers forum purchased a 3404 and had some questions about a possible stylus and cart replacement. It seems a replacement stylus for the combo...MMC- 20 CL.... was about 800 bucks. I was wondering if any of the knowledgeable folk here had any suggestions about more affordable replacements...original or otherwise? Thanks in advance!!

Anything from the MMCx000 or MMC20x will work with the Beogram 3404. As linked to above, SoundSmith sells replacement cartridges for that Beogram starting at $200. The cartridges are 'integrated', so you can't replace the stylus as you would with a standard moving-magnet cartridge, but SoundSmith can retip them.

If he still has the original cartridge, having Sound-Smith re-tip it may be the answer.
