Pretty cool looking scarredtaka, The cab's look about the same but he drivers are definetly different. I think your grilles are even more detailed than mine.

Im looking forward to hopfully hooking them up to my main system this weekend. (hopefully) Im running 8w/ch tube mono block's at the moment so we shall find out how efficient these bx 2000's are. :)

+my 1200's drivers look more like scarredtaka's. I have a 12" woofer (with the little hole in the dustcap), it has a 61/2 and a 5" midwoofer, a 3 " tweeter, and 2 "super tweeters" that look like the tweeter on the BX1000 picture (for a total of 6 drivers). its very very Kabuki :-)

So scarredtaka, pleaze don't keep us in suspense. How do they sound? Are they the JBL type "west coast" sound, are they the polite "new england" sound, or are they something quite different? :cool:

I also picked up a pair of these as well as a pair of BX-1000's recently but I've been so busy I've not had time to do any critical listening to either. I did find a reference in a German Hi Fi magazine that tested a pair of BX-1200's back in the 70's and pronounced them "superb" but I've not been able to get my hands on a copy of the review.

I went on a kind of Coral binge in the last several months when I learned they built many of Sansui's early speakers and had a good reputation in both Japan and Europe and found both a pair of BX-1000's and BX-1200's for under $100 for all 4. Now I've got a line on a monster pair of corals that are said to be about 38" to 40" high, about 28" to 32" wide, and about 18" deep tht are a 4 or 5 way system (the seller is uncertain). He's never unboxed them since he brought them new in Japan so I'm guessing they might be collectible.

Unfortunately, I've been so busy lately I've not had a chance to do any critical listening to these Corals so I was wondering what others who have listened to them thought of them.

It's OK and you won't hurt my feelings if you think they really suck as I've already got potential buyers lined up in case I decide to dump them. I'm just always curious as to what others think. :cool:
 
I had a pair of BX 1401s (I think) with a 15 inch woofer and various midranges and tweeters. Efficient and fun to listen to, though rather tiring. But nowhere near as cool as your turbine loaded gem. Who needs to even hook them up -- just looking at them made me laugh uncontrollably. I'd keep them around for mood adjustment.
 
You got that right Nat!! I figured that a guy just should not pass up a opportunity to own a speaker with turbine midranges and tweeters.

I guess I like cash money more though, I sold them to a guy who liked them more than I for $120.00 :naughty:

I honestly will miss them though.

If you are referring to my BX2000's, the answer is not incredibly impressed. I thought that they were somewhat laid back and not very detailed. I was hoping more from the bass and the mids and highs were just "not quite" there. They might have been in need of a cap or two replaced somewhere along the line. I dont think I posted a pic of the x-overs but they were quite elaborate. Then again, Im used to 2-ways with simple x-overs.

Other than that I loved them :naughty:

I had a pair of BX-1200 (or so I thought) that I picked up from a thrift. It turns out I had one each of a BX-1200 and 1201. Anyway, they were virtually identical. Good construction quality and nice looking cabs, but the sound didn't do it for me. I eBayed them a few years ago.
