B&W 801 good match for MC60?

Any advice or opinion would be appreciated...I inhereted my grandfather's McIntosh equipment several years ago...Two MC60, C20, 55 tuner etc. Have owned 801's for several years and wondering about the power requirements of the speakers, is this a good match, or should I think about downsizing.

If the MC60s are operating correctly they will drive the 801s on the 4 ohm tap. I have used an original MC275 on these in the past in my home. The 801s do like there watts though so if you like to listen loudly you may want to go to at least 200 watts per channel of solid state or more.

Find a nice horn loaded speaker for the Mc tube amps, Klipsch? and you will really enjoy them. Your B&W's like a lot of power.

Or you can sell the MC-60's and the C-20 preamp (this is a winner) and the tuner. The tuner/preamp combination is good, so I might look at another pair of speakers for another room?

Picking up a MC2205 or bigger and bi-amping would give you what you would need to go full tilt with your B&W's. Tubes are wasted on bass, and would be less expensive than speaker replacement in your case. :)
