B&W DM2 Series II Tweeter replacement recommendation

Hi,

Recently got a pair of beautiful B&W DM2 Series II speakers. However, I've taken out each driver to test them and the middle tweeter drive seems to be completely dead. Has anyone had any recommendations of what I can replace this with? This is a TW26 Tweeter Driver and I see B&W have a TP26 Tweeter Driver. Could this work? Originals are obviously hard to find.

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with this model, but they don't look the same, and probably don't sound the same. The TW26 appears to have a cloth dome while the TP26 looks like rubber or plastic.

sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and buy off ebay. if it is damaged or broken ebay will have your back if the seller won't. there are 2 on there now

Yup, that's where I grabbed one of those pics from. Yeah, they're kind of pricey. That's the way it is with B&W.

yup. i bought a pair of nos 601 s1 woofers a few years ago from there. what are you gonna do? gotta pay to play with b&w.

If you use hifishark to search for tw26 you get a lot of hits for replacement diaphragms but I do see a too-good-to-be-true one in the UK (but it’s cheap enough to maybe give it a shot)

I'm using (temporarily) a TP26 as a replacement for one blown TW26 on my DM2 mkII. It is nearly impossible to find used TW26 these days. I've tried to repair the blown TW26 with a diaphragm repair kit without success. Honestly I can't hear the difference between the TW26 on the left vs the TP26 on the right.

Matched pairs of TP26 are easier to come by because they were used on several entry level B&W models from the mis 80s including DM100, DM100i, DM110, DM110i, DM220, DM330. If you go the TP26 route you'll need to slightly modify the cabinet tweeter opening with a round file. Good luck.
If anyone has experiencing removing the crossover board from the DMII without damaging the vent tube I'd appreciate some advice.
